Windows SteadyState

Windows SteadyState, successor to the Shared Computer Toolkit, is designed to make life easier for people who set up and maintain shared computers in places such as schools, Internet cafés and centers, libraries. Many people are likely to use a shared library or internet center computer over the course of a single day, making it susceptible to security problems and configuration issues. Libraries and similar community technology centers need cost effective ways to manage and protect their shared computers.

Easy to install. No server or IT specialists are required to install and use Windows SteadyState. Windows SteadyState runs on workgroups or standalone computers. The geniune Windows XP or Windows Vista  license is all you need.

Easy to use. Because Windows SteadyState is designed for easy installation and use, libraries can benefit from time savings and productivity gains. Individual libraries can effectively provide shared access computing systems for their communities, likely limiting their need for dedicated IT staff.

Improved Security. Libraries and community technology centers use Windows SteadyState to help protect their shared PCs from viruses, meddling, and other security threats. User Restrictions can disable the installation of new programs and prevent tampering in the first place. If performance problems do occur, the Disk Protection feature makes it easy to return the computer to its original working order.
